About The Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is actually a large city with suburbs and is situated in the south eastern corner of the Queensland coast adjacent to Summerland destinations in Northern NSW. How to get to The Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a major tourist destination with The Gold Coast Airport just 15 minutes drive from the airport to the centre of the city. The airport services both interstate capital cities as well as major cities in New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

The closest major city to The Gold Coast is Brisbane which is about one and a half hours drive north of Coolangatta. You can catch the Air Train from one of the five Gold Coast stations or direct from the Airport. The majority of bus routes run along the Gold Coast Highway. Services are frequent during the day, with intervals of only 5 minutes between Southport and Burleigh Heads.

Whether on holidays, visiting attractions, commuting to work or travelling between Gold Coast and other destinations; available transport modes include hire cars, taxis, buses, ferries, rail and a monorail. A number of major roads connect the Gold Coast with Brisbane, New South Wales, and the surrounding areas.

The Pacific Motorway (M1) is the main motorway in the area. Commencing at the Logan Motorway (M6) in Brisbane, it travels through the inland Gold Coast region and links with the Pacific Highway at the New South Wales/Queensland border near the town of Tweed Heads.

Only 30 minutes drive inland from the bustling coastal strip of The Gold Coast, the city alludes to rich farmland, vineyards, charming villages and rainforest reserves. There are rare and threatened animal species in the area as well as beautiful fauna that grows in the rich volcanic earth.
