Ballina Coastal Country Music Festival – Saturday 1 to Monday 3 October 2011
Bangalow is an instantly charming country town situated in the hinterland of Summerland NSW that has the added advantage of being relatively close to beaches.

If you are travelling to or visiting Bangalow, our Summerland NSW website can provide you with information on:
Bangalow was once a highly productive centre for the dairy farming industry and although it has modernised to accommodate up market trends, it maintains its unique village atmosphere.
Historic shopfronts line the main street of Bangalow with contemporary restaurants and cafe’s catering to the gourmet and small galleries and boutiques that transcend the experience of walking along the road.
One goes from luscious cake and latte to Japanese silk kimono to Persian carpet or other trendy objet d’art. And yet these specialties are nestled comfortably alongside the country women’s shop with its old piano and homemade chutney.
Bangalow cleverly maintains a picturesque quality and just a short stroll from the main road and around the corner takes you to the Showground.
The Bangalow Show happens each November and the atmosphere captures the heart of the country-side community with well fed cows and other animals, cake competitions and the like.
Or take a short stroll to the park next to the river with its shady trees and green grass that invites a picnic. The town’s museum is not far from here with a welcoming veranda and sells delicious old fashioned ice-cream sodas. Or take a memorable walk along the track next to Byron Creek with strangler vine covered trees and dappled light.
Situated only 12 km south of the Byron Bay turn off on the Pacific Highway or 25kms north of Ballina, the town attracts many visitors.
The local market every fourth Sunday of the month is a popular destination and there is a shuttle bus operating on market days from Byron Bay to get you there. Local artists and artisans sell their work amongst fresh flowers, vegetables and fruit, natural beauty products, second hand treasures, delicious specialty produce, tasty take-away food and more.
And not to be missed is The Billycart Derby in May when children and teenagers race their latest Billycart creations along the main street of the town making this an exciting event.
The road is closed off for this special occasion and young and old vie for the best places to view the scene.
